Connecting Google Analytics to track booking events

Park With Us can send your booking activity straight to Google Analytics, so you can see how guests move through your reservation flow and where they convert. Once you add your Google Analytics ID in your settings, Park automatically tracks key e-commerce events for you β€” no extra setup or code required.

This guide walks you through connecting your account and explains what Park tracks.

Before you start

You'll need a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property for your campground's website. If you don't have one yet, you can create one for free at analytics.google.com.

Connecting Google Analytics comes down to one thing: copying your Measurement ID from Google Analytics and pasting it into your camp settings: https://parkwith.us/admin/settings/camp-info

Step 1: Find your Google Analytics Measurement ID

Your Measurement ID looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX (it always starts with G-).

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
  1. Click Admin (the gear icon in the bottom-left corner).
  1. Make sure the correct property is selected, then click Data streams.
  1. Click your web data stream.
  1. Copy the Measurement ID shown in the top-right of the stream details (G-XXXXXXXXXX).

Step 2: Add your Measurement ID in Park

  1. From your Park admin dashboard, open your Settings.
  1. Find the Google Analytics field.
  1. Paste in your Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) and save.

That's it β€” Park will begin sending events to your Google Analytics property automatically.

Tip: New data can take up to 24–48 hours to appear in your standard Google Analytics reports. To confirm the connection is working right away, open the Realtime report in Google Analytics and complete a test action (like viewing a site) on your booking page. You should see activity appear within a minute or two.

What Park tracks for you

Once connected, Park automatically sends key e-commerce events during the booking process. These help you understand how guests move through the reservation flow and where conversions happen.

Booking funnel events

These events track the guest journey from browsing sites to completing a reservation.

Event
What it means
view_item_list
A guest views a list of available campsites or units (for example, search or availability results).
view_item
A guest views the details for a specific campsite, cabin, or rental unit.
add_to_cart
A guest adds a campsite or unit to their booking cart.
remove_from_cart
A guest removes a campsite or unit from their booking cart.
begin_checkout
A guest begins the checkout process and enters the reservation form.
purchase
A reservation is successfully completed and payment is processed. (Conversion event)

Events Google Analytics tracks on its own

Google Analytics also captures some general interaction events automatically, which add helpful context around how visitors use your booking pages:

  • session_start β€” a visitor begins a new session
  • page_view β€” a page is loaded
  • click β€” a visitor clicks a link or interactive element
  • scroll β€” a visitor scrolls through a page

What you can measure

With these events flowing into Google Analytics, you can track:

  • Booking conversion rate β€” how many browsers turn into completed reservations
  • Drop-off points β€” where guests leave during the reservation process
  • Revenue β€” how much your booking engine is generating, tied to the purchase event

A common next step is to mark purchase as a conversion (key event) in Google Analytics so it shows up in your conversion reports and can be used to measure ad performance.
