If you sell items in your camp store (like food, merchandise, firewood, etc.), organizing them into store categories makes checkout easier and reporting much more powerful.
How to Use Store Categories and View Product Sales Reports
Organizing your camp store items into categories makes checkout faster and reporting much easier. This article will show you:
- How to create store categories
- How to add products to categories
- How to filter between categories at checkout
- How to run and download a Products Report
- How to filter reports by category
This is especially helpful if you sell items like food, merchandise, firewood, or supplies and want better visibility into what’s selling.
How to Add a Store Category
Step 1: Open Edit Products
- Go to your Store
- Click Edit Products
- Click Add Category
Step 2: Create the Category
You’ll need to enter:
- Category Name (example: Food or Merchandise)
- Tax Rate (optional) - Products in this category will inherit this tax rate by default. Any products with their own individual tax rate will use that instead.
- Sort Order (optional) - Sort order defines what order the categories show up in the store.
What is Sort Order?
Sort order controls where the category appears in your store.
- 1 = Appears at the top
- 2 = Appears below category 1
- Higher numbers = Appear lower in the list
For example:
- Food → Sort Order 1
- Merchandise → Sort Order 2
Step 3: Add Products to the Category
- Click inside the Search Products field
- Select the products you want to include
- Example: Soda Pop, Ice Cream, Candy Bar
- Continue selecting until all items are added
How to Switch Between Store Categories
After saving, your categories will appear at the top of your store.
You can click in the specific category badges shown above the store items and that will allow you to quickly filter between the categories that you have created in your store.

Filter Products Report Results by Category
In the Products Report, you can narrow your results using the Category filter (based on the product categories you’ve created).
Use categories you created to quickly review performance for a specific group of items. Below, you can see that a filter is being applied to only see a Products Report for the items in the Clothes category.

Filtering by category is helpful when you want to:
- Compare category performance
- Track revenue by category
- Identify best-sellers
- Spot seasonal trends
